May has been a great month for me. I spent a week in Santorini with my mum, successfully sold/donated some old bits and bobs and lucked out on plenty of downtime. And OH YEAH, I decided to relaunch my old blogging career.
To kick off my return, I’ve opted for a classic post: monthly favourites. Let me talk you through everything I listened to, watched and consumed this month (and what I’d recommend).
Song: Sportscar by Tate McCrae
I’m not 100% on the Tate McRae bandwagon, but I really love this particular song. Fun fact: she’s performing in Glasgow tonight as I prep this post.
Beauty Product: 17. Ink Legend Tattoo Eyeliner
It’s cheap and it does the job…and does that job a lot better than some of the high-end eyeliners I’ve tried.
Home Cooked Meal: Ultimate Smash Burgers
If you’re on veggie tok you’ll have no doubt come across elly’s plate. I was gifted her cookbook at Christmas and have been slowly making my way through all the delicious recipes. I’ve enjoyed almost everything I’ve made from it, but in May the Smash Burgers really hit the spot (and fulfilled that McDonald’s craving that sometimes creeps up).
Glasgow restaurant: Mharsanta in Merchant City
While most Scottish restaurants may seem cutesy and touristy, this one made this Scottish gal leave raving. I had the veggie haggis and vegan lasagne (the only vegan things on the menu but they were delicious) while my mum had the Shetland mussels. I opted for Irn Bru as my beverage, but if you love a whisky-based cocktail then you’ll be right at home!
Book: Girls That Invest by Simran Kaur
In case you’re worried I’ve went full boring/business graduate on you, this book is well written, accessible and such a great resource if you’ve considered wanting to increase your finances through the stock market.
I also read Geek Girl by Holly Smale while on holiday, which was…okay. I think if I’d read when it first came out - and was then part of the target demographic - I would have liked it more, but as a 34-year-old it fell a little flat for me (sorry!).
I’ve also started reading the very hyped Surrounded by Idiots, which is useful if you’re new to self-development but as someone who has devoured the self-development genre it’s not bringing anything new to the table (again, sorry).
Film & TV: Gossip Girl
I’m still doing my Gossip Girl rewatch, this might take a while!
